Technological products

Objective:

  • Understand the concepts and processes employed in materials development and evaluation and the implications of these for design, development, maintenance, and disposal of technological products.

SUMMARY:
Learn about how something is designed, improved, made, sustained and recycled. Look into what particular products are made of, and the deeper reasons why.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!

+ Consider the processes involved in selecting the materials that each part of the product uses -

  • What is the product used for?
  • Where is the product made, and does that geographic location influence the selection of materials which the product uses?

+ Understand how technological products are maintained, and their lifespan -

  1. How can the product be enhanced, renewed, fixed, or updated?
  2. When is the product expected to expire/break down?
  3. How does the product get disposed of/recycled?
